Librom Craft Sake Brewery was established in 2020 to create sake that is approachable and loved by the younger generation. “Brew freely and be romantic” are the brewers aspirations and the origin of the name LIBROM. This brewery was the dream of company president Misuto Yagyu and head brewer Shumpei Anami who believed in the infinite possibilities of craft sake. They accepted the challenge to add hyper local secondary ingredients such as fruits, herbs, spices and vegetables and create new and exciting alcoholic drinks while preserving the traditions of sake fermentation and koji making.
Librom’s microbrewery is located on the ground floor of an apartment building in Takasago very close to Tenjin in Central Fukuoka. This small scale city brewery has just four 300 litre tanks and most production steps are performed by hand, within the tiny brewery footprint, visible through windows to people dining in the adjoining counter pub restaurant.
Support for local regions and farmers, sustainability and preservation of the environment are key tenets of this brewery and guide their practice. Most importantly they produce a unique range of craft sake designed to show people how delicious sake can be.
