The Houou Biden brand is created by Kobayashi Sake brewery, founded in 1872 in Nikko, Tochigi prefecture. The brewery is located in Mita village which is blessed with an abundant supply of underground water from the breath-taking natural beauty of the nearby Nikko mountains.
In 1990 Masaki Kobayashi became the 5th generation of his family to become a sake brewer. Alongside his wife they resurrected the business from lean times with an emphasis on high quality sake and focused attention to the details of koji making and sake fermentation. They believe that brewing Ginjo and Daiginjo sake is a work of art that truly embodies the spirit of Japan and its people, and they dedicate themselves to this craft.
