Heigo is the exclusive authorised import and distribution partner of ARAMASA Co., Ltd. in Australia

Founded in 1852 in Akita City, Aramasa Shuzō is one of Japan’s most respected artisanal sake producers, renowned for merging deep tradition with uncompromising innovation and exemplary standards. To this day with almost 175 years of sake brewing history, Aramasa remains a small family run brewery, led by the visionary eighth generation Yusuke Sato. Since the early 2000s Sato has been dedicated to developing Aramasa’s distinctive and expressive sake style, focused on pure rice brewing within a framework of Akita-grown rice, precious land and water resources, agriculture practice and community. This guiding philosophy of brewing in harmony with nature and microorganisms has made Aramasa a driving force in the current sake renaissance, setting a benchmark for modern generation sake producers in the world.
The key tenets of Aramasa sake are the use of No. 6 Yeast, the ancestor of all modern sake yeast discovered within the brewery in 1930, in conjunction with brewing using the traditional Kimoto method fermentation in kioke or cedar wood tanks. All sake rice used is from Akita Prefecture with an increasing amount being cultivated in Aramasa’s own fields in Uyashinai, a remote village on the outskirts of Akita City. Aramasa is a ‘comprehensive sake culture preservation company’ focused on reviving traditional craftsmanship while imagining what a modern brewery can aspire to be.
