This is a sweet potato shochu distilled by Yagi Brewery in Nara. The bottle is labelled from the Hanafuda playing cards series representing July with a wild boar emerging from the bush surrounded by fronds of clover in a powerful and animated way hinting at the intensity of this drink.
This shochu uses the local Nara prefecture sweet potato crop – Kogane Sengan and this is fermented by rice koji made with black koji to bring out the sweet and earthy notes in the shochu. Enjoy mixed in a signature cocktail, straight over ice, or with soda.
