This Umeshu is produced by Yagi Sake Brewery from Nara Prefecture highlighting locally grown Japanese Ume fruit in combination with a shochu base from their own label. The taste is all that you would expect from Umeshu – sweet plus the distinctive satisfying sourness of greenish Ume that underlines the refreshing nature of this drink. This is made in a very small limited allocation batch. This classic style of Umeshu is to be appreciated straight up, over ice or with soda.
The name ‘Hanafuda’ references the Japanese Hanafuda card game where the stunning washi paper label design of ‘hana’ or flower represents the month February which is the time for the arrival of Ume or Plum blossoms.
