The name of this Shochu from Genkai Distillery references the founder of the company Tamesaburo Yamauchi.
This is a Shochu bottling that has been developed for the export market where shochu based drinks with higher alcoholic strength are desired by mixologists and cocktail creators. The Red Label version has an ABV of 38% and the Black Label version has a higher ABV of 43%.
The shochu is made in the traditional Iki method with 2/3 barley and 1/3 rice koji propagated with white koji. A single distillation in a reduced pressure / vacuum still achieves this subtly sweet shochu with deep flavours of the base ingredient barley.
