Limited Release
This award-winning Umeshu was brewed with the expertise that comes from almost three centuries of experience. The usual image of plum wine or umeshu is that it will be sweet but this release is very different as the nature of the ume fruit shines through and any sweetness is contrasted by a sharp acidity leaving the impression of dryness on the palate. This delicious and satisfying plum wine is smooth, balanced and light and is made with locally grown Japanese flowering “Bungo” plums and Mutsu Hassen sake. It is very versatile with food and is particularly good with fried foods because of its dryness. It can be enjoyed cold, on the rocks, in a soda spritz or even served with warm water.
