Rice Fields Series
Abe Sake Brewery produces its Rice Field Series annually to support and protect the scenery, rice fields and farming community in the Kashiwazaki area, Niigata Prefecture where the brewery is located. Revitalising and drawing interest to their home region is a key motivator for Abe and they want sake fans to enjoy the taste of each rice individual rice field area, represented photographically on the bottle labels. In this limited edition series one tank of sake is made with rice from a single area’s fields. One bottle represents one group of rice paddies with a sake fermentation method which is the same for every tank produced.
Yasuda Torigoe is a farm which is located closest to Abe Brewery and the rice is grown by a contracted farmer Mr Yajima who used to work at the brewery. In the future Abe brewery is hoping to take over the baton of rice production in these fields so that the brewery has a direct relationship with the land. The sake from this limited edition production has a full mouth feel and the signature Abe sweet/sour balance with flavours in the apple and pear spectrum with a clean aftertaste.
