Rice Fields Series
Abe Sake Brewery produces its Rice Field Series annually to support and protect the scenery, rice fields and farming community in the Kashiwazaki area, Niigata Prefecture where the brewery is located. Revitalising and drawing interest to their home region is a key motivator for Abe and they want sake fans to enjoy the taste of each rice individual rice field area, represented photographically on the bottle labels. In this limited edition series one tank of sake is made with rice from a single area’s fields. One bottle represents one group of rice paddies with a sake fermentation method which is the same for every tank produced.
The Nota rice fields are located about 25 minutes’ drive from the brewery into the mountainous region inland. Yuta Abe, the Kuramoto of Abe Sake Brewery, fell in love with the Nota area as it boasts a landscape that is full of nature’s best features, which speak to his vision and dreams of how the countryside should be. The sake grown from rice of Nota has balanced umami and rice sweetness, a slight zesty feeling which lifts the drinking experience and a solid acidity to give a clean aftertaste.
