This sake has an alluring aroma of grilled peaches, papaya, nashi pear, white blossom and creamy banana which follows through onto the palate with a smooth, mouth-filling, rich texture. Definitely not “shy and retiring” this is a medium dry package of big tropical fruit flavours woven expertly together with a finish of cleansing crisp acidity and blood-orange pith bitterness. The sake has had a single pasteurisation in the bottle to retain freshness and a little zest on opening, to preserve condition please keep refrigerated.
The distinctive orange label of the Harada brand is a combination of motifs representing the sun, mountains and water which are at the core of rice growing and sake brewing. The word momidi (or momiji) which forms part of the brewery name references the Japanese maple tree but was also used to describe the colour change that occurs with the change of seasons. This coming to life as the colour change sweeps through the natural landscape of Japan is a strong and evocative image for Hatsumomidi sake brewery.
